If you’re looking to quickly cycle THC out, focus on overall health and wellness. Eating clean, getting enough sleep, and staying hydrated are all great ways to take care of your body and make sure that it can effectively get rid of cannabis compounds. While there is much misinformation out on the effectiveness of different “cheats” to drug testing, these cheats should not be taken lightly. With our advanced, knowledgeable staff, we can easily pinpoint drug-use.
This means it can linger in your system long after the last use, even when the immediate effects have worn off. When it comes to removing THC from your system, time is the most important factor. While there are some ways that you can speed up this process, they won’t magically remove the cannabis from your system. They can, however, provide you with peace of mind that you’re doing everything you can to get a negative drug test. When your body sweats, it cycles out substances, including cannabis compounds.
There are a few different types of tests that can be used to detect cannabis. Urine tests can typically detect cannabis anywhere from 7-60 days after use ends.3 As far as hair tests go, they may detect cannabis for up to 90 days. This number is different for blood tests, which generally provide accurate results up to seven days after consumption. This research was supported in part by the Intramural Research Program of the NIH, NIDA and the American Registry of Pathology. We thank PharmChem Inc., Fort Worth, TX, USA, for providing sweat patches used in this study. The idea of sweating out THC has some truth to it, but it’s not as straightforward as a quick sauna session.
“Just drink lots of water before the test.”
- In fact, the effectiveness and safety of THC detox kits are widely debated, and most of these products are not FDA-approved.
- Certified laboratories conduct the drug testing, which typically uses immunoassay for the initial testing and gas chromatography to determine the presence of marijuana.
- Some contain sensible components that support natural detox (vitamins, fiber, herbs), and structured programs that encourage you to abstain and flush your system.
- There are no other published studies reporting sweat patch THC concentrations after cessation of use for comparison.
There are no other published studies reporting sweat patch THC concentrations after cessation of use for comparison. Investigators have collected sweat wipes from drugged drivers and measured THC in those that screened positive for cannabinoids 16, 17. No 11-hydroxy-THC or THCCOOH were detected using a GC/MS operated in the electron impact mode. Figure 1 depicts THC concentrations in weekly sweat patches from Group 1.
Trying to figure out the best and most effective way to flush weed out of your system? Take the uncertainty and fear out of the equation by seeking professional help and a medical detox to overcome your struggle with dependence on weed. This can ensure that your detox from weed is safe and any underlying issues involving dependence are thoroughly addressed after weed is out of your system. While the decision to seek professional help is entirely yours to make, it’s also the best prospect of a drug-free future that is healthy and successful. Keep in mind that there are certain types of foods that slow the metabolism and/or increase retention of water, principally because they have high amounts of fat, sugar, and sodium.
“Cranberry juice or other diuretics will detox you.”
It has a wax consistency and looks, but there are different products within this category. Each of these products often has various features and provides a unique experience. Stepping into the cannabis industry in Florida can seem like a thrilling adventure. Avoiding processed foods, sugar, and alcohol can further aid in detoxification, as these can slow down your metabolism and burden your liver.

“If you know you’re going to test positive for a test the next day, be honest with your supervisor,” Ogle says. “Easier said than done, but it shows a certain level of responsibility.” Meanwhile, in 2014, another group of scientists set out to test the exercise THC connection, by evaluating people’s blood and pee. “It’s kind of frustrating to be in this world of cannabis where there is so much anecdotal evidence and anecdotal claims out there about what to do,” Ogle says. “When the sedentary person decides, ‘I wanna beat this,’ then goes to a sauna or starts doing a bunch of jumping jacks, it won’t really do much,” Rafael Landeiro of Mobile Health, a lab testing service, previously told Inverse. Plenty of sources may suggest trying to sweat out the THC, but does exercise really work?
What are THC detox kits?
Group 1 consisted of eleven healthy individuals (7 males, 4 females, 9 African Americans, 1 American Indian, 1 Hispanic) with histories of daily cannabis use. Subjects had body mass indices ranging from 18.6 to 32.9 kg/m2 and ages 21 to 32 years. PharmChek® sweat patches (PharmChem Inc., Ft Worth, TX, USA) were applied upon admission and collected weekly throughout the study for two to four weeks. Patches were applied to the chest or abdomen following manufacturer guidelines, which included thoroughly cleaning the skin with ethanol to remove residual THC prior to application 3. Specimens were stored at −20°C and shipped on dry ice to PharmChem Inc., Fort Worth, TX, USA, for THC testing using the procedure described in the GC/MS methods section. Blind low, medium and high concentration quality control samples, prepared by spiking known amounts of THC onto drug-free patches, were stored and shipped with the specimens to independently evaluate testing performance.
However, false positives are possible if THC from someone else’s smoke or oil contaminates the hair , though this is rare in practice. Hair tests are typically used to identify long-term patterns of heavy use. Edibles or oral THC products might also be detectable for ~1–2 days in saliva in some instances. Frequent heavy use might extend this a bit, but generally blood testing is for very recent consumption. THC metabolites persist longer, but blood screenings focus on active THC for impairment. So, if you’re a cannabis connoisseur who knows your local budtenders by name, you don’t need to stop or slow your consumption quite yet — just be aware of your body and take note of any symptoms that start to come up, if any.
These temperature increases do elicit several adaptive changes (besides sweating) in your heart rate and blood flow to various organs. However, a review of the scientific literature found no consistent change in drug elimination as a result. Besides the consumption of cannabis, you may also fall into other bad habits such as drinking too much, gambling, or combining prescription drugs and alcohol in an escalating attempt to continue the high. Cannabis use has long been considered a gateway drug, especially when started in adolescence, and frequently morphs into other substance addictions and/or addictive behaviors.
How a Sauna Detox Is Done Before a Drug Test
There is no exact timeframe, as THC can be detected in the body anywhere from seven to can you sweat thc out of your system 30+ days. It’s possible that wax could stay in your system for as few as seven days. Because of the high concentration of THC in wax, it’s more likely to stay in your system longer. If you know that you’re going to be taking a drug test soon, then wax may not be the best option. It’s difficult to predict how long wax can stay in your body, so do yourself a favor and choose a different option if the stakes are high. Age, metabolism, diet, sleep, and more can all influence how long THC stays in your system.
Getting some exercise is a great way to encourage your body to metabolize any cannabis still left in your system, so consider going for a jog or run. Spending some time in a sauna is another great way to encourage your body to sweat and get rid of any remaining THC. There are many different types of cannabis products available, including a type of concentrate known as wax. Specifically, THC wax is a type of extract popular among consistent cannabis users and consumers with high tolerances.
Indeed, serious fractures in the family dynamic, lost friendships, and even rebuffing by casual acquaintances are common among those who insist on adhering to their weed habit. Negative consequences resulting from continuing use of cannabis can wreak havoc in your life, even if you think you have a weed habit under control. Besides, even though weed may be legal in your state (either for recreational or medicinal purposes), there are often cumulative and cascading negative effects from ongoing use. If you decide to stop using, you can either choose to ease yourself into it by gradually cutting down your weed intake or go cold turkey. Just remember that you can’t really detox your body from weed until THC is completely out of your system.

A workplace free from drug and alcohol use sparks healthy organizations and communities that bleed out into society at large. Treatment options include support groups, medicine, one-on-one counseling and drug rehab programs. The sooner a person seeks professional help, the sooner they can take back control of their life. Until recently, marijuana was seen as a safe drug, with its most significant risk being a gateway drug. We now know that even if someone never proceeds to harder drugs, marijuana use has many downsides.
